The oldest vineyard in Crozes-Hermitage appellation, Domaine de Thalabert has been owned by Paul Jaboulet Aîné since 1834.
Appellation:
Crozes-Hermitage
Grape varieties:
100% Syrah
Vines:
Deeply rooted old vines,
planted from 1934 to 1975
Hand-picked, sorted by plot in small 12kg crates.
Optical and/or manual sorting
Traditional vinification – 100% destemming.
3 weeks maceration and daily pumping over.
Malolactic fermentation.
Aged 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels and/or demi-muids and/or truncated cone vats and/or concrete eggs (percentage of new wood varies with vintage).
Low terraces of the Rhône, stony and of glacial origin. The small rounded pebbles store heat during the day and release it at night.
Convinced that the interactions of living organisms are beneficial to the vineyard, favouring, among other things, crop auxiliaries, we have established the protection of the Clos Gounon ruin, its forest, and its meadow. This 7-hectare wildlife reservoir, in the heart of our Thalabert vineyard, is the first LPO biodiversity refuge in the Drôme.
Our winemakers recommends storing bottles in the dark, at temperature between 1-18°c and with a humidity level of over 70%.
Ideal serving temperature is around 16 to 18°C.
